BALMAIN PARIS

Scope: Velvet + Concrete Walls + Circular Plinths

After receiving the client render, I met with the fabrication team and strategized the construction plan for this project. I CNC routed the circular plinth structures out of MDF and plywood in preparation for lamination. We came up with a very efficient process by CNC pocketing biscuit holes around an offset pocket along the rim of the structure with perfect tolerance for the wigglewood material we used to wrap the structure prior to lamination. The result was near-perfect. The client wanted a black edge on the lettering for the velvet walls so I decided to use black Valchromat, pre-laminated the velvet, and CNC routed the lettering prior to adherence to the wall structure.
